Sheila Richmond has been named Regional Folklorist for Region 2 of Louisiana. She will be based at Northwestern State University and work in a 12-parish area including Avoyelles, Beauregard, Bossier, Caddo, DeSoto, Grant, Natchitoches, Rapides, Red River, Sabine, Vernon, and Winn parishes.

One of the best resources for understanding and appreciating American Indian basketry is available online through Northwestern State University.
